"Fermentation is a transformation that bubbles rather than burns... it recycles life, renews hope, and goes on and on... envision yourself as an agent for change, creating agitation, releasing bubbles of transformation." -S.E. Katz

About Us!

Stephanie is a curious student, a fierce yogi, an attentive teacher, a committed community member, a loving daughter, sister, girlfriend and friend. Her longing to live life from her heart has led her to discover many different techniques from Eastern and Western spiritual and wellness disciplines.  Stephanie is eager to guide others to discover how these same disciplines can help them cultivate greater health and harmony in their lives.  She is the founder of the consulting business, Stephanie Bifolco Support Services, which teaches yogic practices, healthy eating, and communication skills to nurture optimal living and working in a relationship, a group, a community, and/or an organization. Stephanie has over 10 years experience promoting these techniques in places such as Peace Corps Peru, the Migrant Family Support Center of Mexico, and Hunter College School of Social Work.

Stephanie’s greatest influences on her spiritual path are the challenging people in her life who continually bring her closer to the “heart” of all things.  She is grateful for the guidance of her main teachers, Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, Dr. Douglas Brooks, Amy Reed, and Jordan Mallah.  Stephanie is a Certified Yoga Teacher at the 200 hour Level at the Yoga Alliance and is also a Certified Anusara-Inspired Yoga Teacher since 2008.  She also has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and Community Organizing.

                                                  DOUG CULLEN

Doug's countertops have been overflowing with crocks of bubbling goodness for over a decade!  Always the tried and true ferments abound, from farm-fresh pickled stringbeans, to spicy Korean kim chi, to the sourdough starter he has been feeding nightly for over 8 years-- but you can count on Doug to consistently be dabbling in various new fermentation projects on a weekly basis! Mugwort beer, dandelion wine, chickpea tempeh, water kefir, herbal kombuchas, and purple-cabbage sauerkraut is a short list of his most recent experiments.

Fermenterie is a long-awaited dream; Doug knows that this community is ripe for DIY fermentation techniques for health, longevity, and quality of life, and is eager to pass along his many years of fermenting experience to all!
